FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) City council has approved a major contract for the first phase of the riverfront development project. Members voted 6 to 2 on the contract Tuesday night.
Earlier this month, Fort Wayne City Council got its first look at the $1.7 million deal earlier this month. The money is coming from $6 million in Legacy funding already approved for the project.
The Board of Park Commissioners is working on obtaining three properties near Superior and Harrison. Construction for the project could start next year and would be finished in 2018.
