FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The plaza in front of the Indiana Michigan Power Center in downtown Fort Wayne is getting a makeover.
Construction started Monday on the plaza and is expected to continue through August. The plaza has not been refurbished since I&M moved into the building in 1981.
I&M owns the plaza and is responsible for its upkeep.
The makeover will include both concrete replacement and drainage improvements. The plaza will also be expanded, lighting will be added and new seating will be installed.
During construction, parking along Wayne Street by the plaza will be closed.
The area has been used in previous years to host Lunch on the Plaza, sponsored by the Downtown Improvement District. It was moved this summer to Freimann Square but will return to the Indiana Michigan Power Center in 2017.
