FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) In an effort to drum up excitement for the start of another school year, Indiana Connections Academy brought its Drum Café initiative to Fort Wayne.

The interactive and engaging event, held Tuesday at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, allowed students to beat drums to “break down barriers, while learning methods of communication and productivity through the universal language of music,” according to the Academy.

More than 60 students participated in the event.

Indiana Connections Academy is an online, tuition-free public school for students in grades K-12 across the state. The virtual school’s curriculum meets the rigor of state standards while allowing students to learn from any location where there is an internet connection.
