ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) Four Northwest Allen County Schools educators have been named Teacher of the Year by the district.

District Asst. Superintendent Dr. Gloria Shamanoff presented the four with the honors on Thursday. Two elementary teachers – Malea Kruse, a fifth grade teacher at Huntertown Elementary, and Rachel Saunders, a first grade teacher at Arcola Elementary – and two secondary teachers – Daniel Lestinsky, a social studies teacher at Carroll Middle School, and Nicole Croy, an art and photography teacher at Carroll High School – were chosen as the district’s top teachers for the 2015-2016 school year.

The district routinely recognizes two elementary teachers and two secondary teachers for their commitment to their students inside and outside of the school day. Teachers are nominated by parents, students, and staff before a committee evaluates the nominations and chooses the teachers to be honored.

The Northwest Allen County Schools board will honor the Teacher of the Year recipients at the its June 13 meeting.
