FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – What a perfect day for this surprise.

As WANE-15 chronicled earlier this season, Bishop Dwenger is led out of the tunnel before every game by an American flag. This symbol has extra meaning to this team as Chris ‘Gus’ Gustafson – uncle of linebacker Charlie Howe – sent it to the Saints while stationed in Kuwait serving in the military.

Gus returned from deployment and surprised the team, fittingly on Veterans Day, Monday night after practice.

You can watch the full story on Thursday on WANE-15.

The Saints beat Angola 40-7 to claim the regional title. They take on Mishawaka on Friday for a chance to go to Lucas Oil Stadium and the state title game.
