Carroll beats Homestead for Memorial Cup Title

High School Sports

After winning the regular season city championship the Carroll hockey team put another trophy in the trophy case Wednesday night, with Jake Dess posting a hat-trick in a 4-2 win over Homestead in the Memorial Cup championship game to wrap up the city tournament.

The game was tied 1-1 heading into the third period. Homestead took the lead when Jack Juarez found Keaton Coulter in front of the net for a goal, staking the Spartans to a 2-1 lead.

But Carroll responded with three straight goals from Dess – the last one being an empty-netter – as the Chargers bounced back to earn the win.
