Amelia White is Summit City’s next soccer star

High School Sports

Even before Homestead’s Amelia White suits up for the Spartans for her first high school soccer match the freshman has made a name for herself on the international level.

White spent the last few weeks training and playing for the U.S. U15 Girls National Team. She helped lead the U.S. to the gold medal at the CFA International Women’s Youth Football Tournament in Weifing, China.

White scored a goal in the team’s first game – a 3-2 victory over Japan – then followed it up with a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over China to clinch the gold. In three games, White finished with four goals. No other U.S. player had more than one.

The international experience has delayed her start to her freshman season playing for Homestead and coach Rick Link. Despite that, Link says she’s the best high school girls soccer player he’s ever seen.
