El Azteca: 45 years of Mexican food and culture

El Azteca has served Mexican food for 45 years from their century-old “house” on East State Blvd.

The early going was rocky. The cooks quit on opening night and Mexican food was a bit of a novelty in 1973.

What’s the secret to their success? A key ingredient is likely the wide variety of tequila choices – around 160.
