Country music firebrand Charlie Daniels dies of stroke

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Country music singer-songwriter Charlie Daniels has died of a stroke. He was 83.

The southern rock legend died at died at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, Tennessee.

Daniels scored with the 1979 hit ‘Devil Went Down to Georgia’. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and was a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
