A bald eagle sitting on a nest near a Southern California lake greeted Monday’s sunrise with some loud calls.

The eagle and its mate have been taking turns incubating a pair of eggs at the top of a 145-foot tall pine tree at Big Bear Lake.

The eggs are expected to hatch in mid-March.
