Wayne grad Sh’Toya Sanders honored by league

Purdue Fort Wayne women’s basketball forward Sh’Toya Sanders has been named to the Summit League All-Newcomer Team as announced by the league on Thursday.

Sanders becomes the first Mastodon to earn All-Newcomer honors since Kayla Drake during the 2010-11 season.
In Summit League play, Sanders averaged 10.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 1.5 steals, while shooting 50.8% from the field. She led the league in offensive rebounds and blocks, while ranking second in total rebounds and third in rebounds per game. The redshirt junior also ranks in the top-10 in the league in steals and field goal percentage.
Purdue Fort Wayne takes on South Dakota State during the quarterfinals of The Summit League Championship Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. ET.
