Spinal injury ends Snider graduate Covington’s football career

College Sports

Former Snider football standout Christian Covington posted on social media Tuesday evening that he would no longer be able to play football due to a spinal injury suffered last week in a game while playing for Indiana State.

A freshman running back for the Sycamores, Covington was injured on a goal-line play.

He was ISU’s second-leading rusher with 246 yards and 4 touchdowns while playing in all six games for the Sycamores this season.

Covington graduated from Snider ranked in the top 10 in many career rushing categories.

A 2017 selection to the WANE-TV Fab 15, Covington tallied 182 carries, 1,373 yards rushing, and 24 rushing TDs as a senior. For his prep career he racked up 2,650 rushing yards and 39 rushing TDs. He was an IFCA 6A all-state selection as a senior and Snider won the SAC title his junior & senior seasons.
