Purdue Fort Wayne men’s basketball gathered their second win of the season thanks to a 111-65 victory over Manchester on Tuesday (Nov. 13) evening at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The Mastodons put the game away with a 34-2 run to start the second half. The ‘Dons made 14-of-18 shots in the push and forced seven turnovers.
When the second half was over the ‘Dons had outscored Manchester 64-28 in the frame. The ‘Dons shot 63.4 percent (26-of-41) in the second half. 20 of Purdue Fort Wayne’s 26 second half baskets earned assists.
Matt Weir scored 17 of his career-high 22 points in the second half. Weir also recorded career bests of eight assists and five rebounds in the game. He connected on 4-of-7 3-pointers.
Weir was one of seven ‘Dons in double-digits. Kason Harrell added 17 points. Dee Montgomery totaled 15 points. John Konchar added 12 points. Cameron Benford had a career-best 11 points. Matt Holba also had 11 points. Dylan Carl totaled 10.
The last time the ‘Dons had seven players reach double-digits was Jan. 9, 2017 vs. Olivet.
Konchar had two steals in the game. It brings his career total to 211. He is now third all-time in program history. He passed the 210 Bruce Roland (1986-89) recorded.
Purdue Fort Wayne improves to 2-2. Manchester falls to 0-1. The ‘Dons are back in action on Friday (Nov. 16) at Dayton.
