Shortly after receiving MIVA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, Michael Keegan was announced as the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week for the period ending January 6. This is the first national award Keegan has received in his career.

The senior from San Diego, California recorded 77 assists (12.83 per set) in two matches against NJIT and (RV) Princeton. He is the national leader in this category after one weekend of play. His 40 assists in the Mastodons’ win over NJIT tied his career-high for a three-set match. He led to the Mastodons to a .330 hitting percentage against NJIT and a .369 rate against Princeton. He also tallied four total kills in four attempts, nine digs and three blocks in the six sets of action.

Keegan is the ninth Mastodon to receive this national honor, and this is the 12th overall award for the Purdue Fort Wayne program. The most recent Mastodon to earn this award is Tony Price, who won it last season.

Keegan and the 13th-ranked Mastodons return to action on Friday (Jan. 11) at 7 p.m. atLees-McRae in Banner Elk, N.C.
