Is Indiana vs. Ohio State an NCAA Tournament “play-in” game?

College Sports

Ninth-seeded Indiana meets eighth-seeded Ohio State Thursday in the Big Ten Tournament in a game that could decide the fate of both teams when it comes to earning an NCAA Tournament bid.

In its latest projections ESPN lists Ohio State among the last four teams “in” the NCAA Tournament field while listing Indiana as the last team “out” of the tournament.

That makes Thursday’s 11:30 a.m. showdown at the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago a defacto play-in game.

That could be good for the Hoosiers, who roll into the Windy City on a 4-game winning streak with victories over ranked teams Wisconsin and Michigan State followed by an 18-point win at Illinois and a 16-point win over Rutgers to close out the regular season.
