Sierra Tufts joined WANE 15 in June of 2018 as the First News Weekend Anchor and Reporter.
Sierra joins the WANE 15 family from one of the snowiest parts of the United States. She was born and raised in a tiny town just south of Erie, Pennsylvania. Erie also happens to be where Sierra got her on-air start.
After graduating from Point Park University in 2015 with a degree in Broadcasting Reporting, Sierra moved from Pittsburgh back to her hometown. She began working at Erie News Now as a reporter. Working a variety of shifts, Sierra landed a spot as the weekend morning anchor and live morning reporter. She also filled-in on the anchor desk when needed, including One Caribbean Television, which broadcasts 24/7 in the Caribbean Islands.
Sierra’s journalism career took her to the country of Georgia, through the Georgian Media Partnership Program with IREX, the International Research & Exchanges Board. While in Georgia, Sierra spent a week working alongside Georgian reporters teaching them multi-media journalism techniques.
Sierra is eager to tell the stories that matter most to those in the Summit City.
In Sierra’s free time, you can find her snuggled up to her three cats: Olive, Queso and Kona. Or, she is always trying to find a great restaurant.
Feel free to reach her with story ideas at Sierra.Tufts@wane.com. She also is open to cat pictures and restaurant suggestions!
