Purdue handles Mastodons 27-3 on diamond

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Fort Wayne baseball traveled to West Lafayette on Tuesday (May 8) night to take on the Boilermakers. Brady Hettinger knocked in a pair of runs but the Mastodons fell 27-3.

Fort Wayne starter Shane Odzark (1-6) suffered the loss. Purdue's starter Andrew Bohm (2-0) went 5.2 innings to pick up the win. Mike Kornacker threw the final 3.1 innings to earn a save.

Fort Wayne chased Brohm in the sixth inning when the 'Dons put three runs on the board. Jacob Dickson singled in Mike Snyder for the first tally. Hettinger then used a double down the left field line to score Dickson and Shannon Baker. Hettinger finished with two hits on the night.

Purdue scored one run in the first and then opened it up with nine tallies in the second inning. Harry Shipley and Tyler Powers each had three hits for the Boilermakers in the contest.

Purdue improves to 28-16. Fort Wayne falls to 10-31.

The 'Dons have their final Summit League road trip of the season this weekend when they start a three-game series at North Dakota State on Friday.
