FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Urban League has a new top executive.
Dr. Cosette Grant-Overton has been named president and CEO of the Urban League, effective May 21. The league's board voted unanimously last week to appoint Grant-Overton.
Grant-Overton replaces Jonathan Ray, who retired last year.
“For almost 100 years, the Fort Wayne Urban League has transformed the community through a myriad of services and Dr. Grant-Overton is a transformational and innovative thought leader who is the best choice to lead this organization in the direction we want to go in advancing socio-economic transformation for African Americans and others in the region.” said Matt Kelley, Fort Wayne Urban League board chairman. “Her global experience, business acumen, education expertise and deep history within the urban league movement will help us realize our greatest opportunities as we forge ahead.”
Grant-Overton recently served as a Visiting Professor and Senior Researcher in Change Management in higher education that included a lecture workshop series in Shanghai, China. She previously consulted for business development and growth for African Americans and the creation and execution of new diversity program initiatives and services.
