Notre Dame's Brian Kelly to receive Mad Anthonys Red Coat

Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly has been named a Red Coat recipient by the Mad Anthonys.

Mad Anthonys announced Monday that Kelly was one of two recipients of Red Coats this year. Glenbrook Automotive Group owner Doug McKibben will also receive a Red Coat at the Red Coat Dinner, held June 22 at Fort Wayne Country Club.

The Mad Anthonys annual charity golf event will take place June 23 also at Fort Wayne Country Club.

“Doug has been a successful business leader and an important part of the Mad Anthonys for many years, and his contributions as an employer, volunteer and leader have had a tremendously positive impact on our community,” said Mike Wallace, president of Mad Anthonys. “At the same time, Coach Kelly has more than proven himself as a coach, leader, father and husband – and his commitment to community support and helping those in need reflects our values at Mad Anthonys perfectly.”

Kelly has coached the Irish to a 59-37 record in his seven seasons in South Bend and is currently the winningest active coach in the NCAA's Football Bowl Bubdivision. He's the first Notre Dame coach to take his team to a bowl game in each of his first six years.

Kelly and his wife, Pacqui, founded the Brian Kelly Family Foundation, renamed later the Kelly Cares Foundation, which has raised more than $4 million for causes associated with health, education and community needs.

McKibben founded the eventual-Glenbrook Automotive Group 40 years ago when he opened Glenbrook Dodge in 1978. He now owns nine new car dealerships and employs hundreds around the area.

McKibben also founded the Lutheran Sports Academy and serves on its board. He's been a member of Mad Anthonys for nearly 30 years.

"It is incredibly humbling to be named a Red Coat recipient and join such an amazing list of past honorees," said McKibben. " I'm proud of this organization and the work it does ot support our community. This is quite an honor."

Past Red Coat recipients include Neil Armstrong, John Wooden, Bob Knight, Gene Keady, Peyton Manning, and Vice President Mike Pence.
