INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - What a difference a year makes for IndyCar driver Alex Tagliani. He was bumped out of the field in 2009, but started at the back when Bruno Junqueira qualified Conquest Racing's second car. Being the teams main driver, Tagliani replaced Bruno and finished 11th.
Now, as driver and team owner of FAZZT Racing, the Tagliani's stunningly quick speeds are opening eyes throughout Gasoline Alley.
"We said we have a good car and we were expecting to have a good car in Indy. So the speed is good but I think we have more and other people have more and we know that. So I don't think we should be too confident, but so far, what the car is capable of doing is very good," said the French Canadian, who's helping Junquiera now.
"Tag" has a second car for him if funding comes through this weekend. The former Indy pole sitter has seen it all.
"Unique situation last year. I had the pole, the big crash, so everything happened. This is why it's Indianapolis. This is why it's special," said Junequiera.
Bruno's getting some seat time, helping Bryan Herta Racing rookie Sebastian Saavadra.
To be able to drive for Tag brings it full circle.
"To know him for 10 years, we've been racing together for a long time. He's a good driver, good friend and it'd be nice," said Bruno.
For Tagliani and Fazzt Racing, a good showing at Indy could bring tears.
"Here at Indy, with the size of the event and what it represents to do a good result here in qualifying and in the race, I think it'd make a lot of people cry," said Tagliani.
