DETROIT (AP) — The Wayne County sheriff's department says a pair of deputies eating lunch at a Detroit restaurant jumped into action when a man tried to rob the eatery.
The department says a man walked into the restaurant while the deputies ate on Monday afternoon, announced a robbery and demanded cash. Witnesses reported the man had his hands in his pockets, suggesting he held a weapon. The sheriff's deputies swiftly took the man into custody.
No injuries were reported in the attempted robbery. The man, who is believed to be 19 years old, was jailed and is expected to face charges in the robbery attempt.
In a statement, Sheriff Benny Napoleon commended the deputies for their work.
