AUSTIN (KXAN) - The funeral service for Sgt. Juan P. Navarro, 23, was held Wednesday. He lost his life in Afghanistan earlier this month. While on duty, he was attacked by an enemy improvised explosive device.
Austin Police Department Motor Unit along with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office and Williamson County Sheriff’s Office escorted the body of Navarro to Killeen for burial.
Navarro graduated from Lanier High School in Austin. He joined the U.S. Army in June 2008, and attended initial Army Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Ga.
The police left from the Cook Walden Funeral Home at 1 p.m.
