With amputated leg, farmer drives 2.5 miles for help

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - A Clay County man was airlifted after a farming accident Friday morning.

At 11:25 a.m., the Clay County Sheriff's Deptartment received a 911 call regarding a farming accident in the rural Cory area.

Police say Larry Knust, 59, was unloading a grain truck when his foot became caught in an auger.

Knust's lower right leg was amputated in the accident.

After the injury, Knust then drive himself nearly 2.5 miles to his parent's house for help.

Knust was then airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis where he is recovering from his injuries.
