PHOENIX (AP) - Mayo Clinic is planning a $130 million new cancer center at its Phoenix location.

The Arizona Republic reports that the new 217,200-square-foot building that will be built atop the first floor of its proton-beam therapy building that's now under construction will consolidate its cancer-care offerings.

Mayo decided to relocate all of its cancer-care offerings to one place for patients' convenience.

The centerpiece is the proton-beam therapy center that will deliver targeted radiation treatments.

The expansion will also include a new pharmacy, laboratory, endoscopy and radiology services and a new cafeteria.

The cancer-center building is scheduled to be completed during the first three months of 2015.

The proton-beam therapy center will open in 2016.
