INDIANAPOLIS (LIN) – For most of us, owning a Jason Wu anything is financially impossible. His designs have graced the red carpet and fashion runways, but have really never been obtainable by the general public. With prices in the $2000 range for simple dresses or tops, most people are likely to shy away.
On Feb. 5, all that will change. Jason Wu releases his “Wu for Target” line, available only for a short period of time, with dresses, separates and accessories ranging in price from $19.99-$59.99.
Wu’s pieces in this collection are simple, with good lines and bright colors. They are casual enough to wear every day, to work or for fun, and the prices seem to be more than reasonable for this quality of designer. Missing are the runway frills, lace and frippery, delightfully replaced by straight edges, boxy purses and playful designs.
"My goal was not to duplicate anything from my main collection... Instead I designed completely new clothes and accessories that reflect my taste and have a voice of their own,” Wu shared with the New York Times.
There is a whim of late 60s Euro-style fashion, hip and cool, yet soft and sweet.
This line will only be available from Feb. 5 to March 6. Will there be another bit of fashion chaos like “Missoni at Target” and “Versace at H & M?” Most likely, yes. You might see me camping out at the nearest Target when Wu’s line hits the racks, and perhaps I’ll see you there.
Milan Fashion Week:
I have basically one thing to say about Milan this year. Prada wins all fashion shows forever more. It, of course, has no bearing on the fact that I am head over heels for Gary Oldman or Adrien Brody. Not one bit.
Involving actors in runway shows is not a new thing, but Prada’s over-the-top line-up of thespians this year premiering their menswear line is pure genius. See more of this show’s highlights over at GQ.
"Good, smart style doesn’t die, it evolves." – Me.
