(CNN) - It looks like Facebook could be getting into the smartphone business soon.
The New York Times is reporting that the social media site is hoping to release one by next year.
The report says Facebook has already hired several former engineers who worked on Apple's iPhone.
Some tech bloggers say this would be a bad idea because there's no actual need for a Facebook phone and the competition is very fierce.
