Each Tuesday, NewsChannel 15 Sports Director Glenn Marini will pick the outstanding High School Team of the Week. The winning team will be presented with "Team of the Week" T-shirts. To nominate a team, click here.

This week’s Team of the Week is Lakewood Park Christian softball. The Panthers recently won the Class A state championship by beating Indianapolis Lutheran 3-2 in the state finals.

This year’s win avenged a 5-1 loss to Tecumseh in the previous year’s championship game. Lakewood Park Christian will be in prime position to defend its title in 2013 as well - the team graduates just two seniors and returns the ace of its pitching staff in Mikeila Borff.

In addition to their success on the diamond senior Kelsey Kruse won the 2012 Class A Mental Attitude Award.
