Around 3:30 a.m., very light snowflakes began falling across the area. Closer to 5 a.m., snow mixed with rain and sleet also started falling.

No significant snowfall accumulations are expected, but persistent rain and high winds will continue through Tuesday and into early Wednesday morning.

The high winds have prompted authorities with Indiana Toll Road to issue a Wind Ban. The ban went into affect Monday afternoon and is set to expire at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The ban effects all triple, long-double, and high profile oversized permit loads.

Overnight, Northeastern REMC reported about 700 customers in Aboite Township lost power around 4:30 a.m. Around 6 a.m., power had been restored, according to the company's Facebook page.

Some people were dressed for the weather, but there were others who were under dressed and wasn't prepared for the chilly temperatures and high winds.

"It's colder than I thought it was. I'm about to go home and change and throw on a scarf," said Montice Smith from Indianapolis.
