Asteroid zips by Earth quietly

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - As expected, an asteroid passed close-by Earth today without causing any problems.  However, it was the largest known asteroid to be so close.

You may also have heard about a meteor exploding over Russia today .  That was a completely separate and unrelated event.  We've posted a photo gallery with images from this rare occurrence .
