FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Officials from the City of Fort Wayne, INDOT and the Allen County Highway Department all stand in agreement that potholes are not causing as big of a travel problem on area roads this year.
The City of Fort Wayne even has numbers to back up this claim. Year-to-date, through February 7, the city says only 72 potholes were reported and filled. Ten of the 72 were reported and filled this week (the week of Feb. 3) In past years, though, the city has historically responded to as many as 200-300 potholes in a given month.
Residents within Fort Wayne can call 311 to report potholes. The city claims a 2-to-3 hour response time from the time the call is made (during regular business hours) to when a pothole is filled.
Allen County residents (those outside of Fort Wayne city limits) wishing to report a pothole should call either the North or South Maintenance Facility, based on their location. The dividing line between the North Maintenance Facility and the South Maintenance Facility is Bass Road and the Maumee River. The North Maintenance Facility can be reached at 449-4781 and the South Maintenance Facility can be reached at 449-4791.
