Dry conditions have prompted the city of Kendallville and Noble County issued burn bans on Tuesday that took effect immediately.
The Noble County Sheriff's Department posted the following statement from the Noble County Commissioners on their facebook page:
“In view of extremely dry conditions, and numerous fires that have occurred across the county in the past week, the Noble County Board of Commissioners has issued a countywide Burning Ban effective immediately. This Burning Ban will remain in effect until further notice."
The City of Kendallville sent out an notification of the burn ban that was received by NewsChannel 15 at 2:19 pm on Tuesday.
The ban in Kendallville includes but is not limited to campfires, burning of brush, trash fires, burn barrels or any open air burning. The ban also includes the use of fireworks.
According to the alert, the ban will remain in effect until there's sufficient rain to turn vegetation green again.
The ban will be reviewed before each Board of Works and Public Safety meeting and a recommendation will be made by the fire chief on whether to continue the ban.
