ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - US 33 is back open near Carroll Road in Allen County after a semi jack-knifed and a driver was ejected from a truck after the two vehicles collided, sending one person to an area hospital in critical condition.

Around 6 a.m., the Allen County Sheriff's Department said a dump truck was northbound on US 33 when it clipped the side of a southbound truck. That caused the truck to spin out and into the path of a semi.

An oncoming semi crashed into the truck and the semi then jack-knifed on the side of the road.

The driver of the truck was ejected and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The dump truck left the scene. Police were not sure if the driver was aware that it hit the truck.

Police said the driver of the semi was not injured.
