FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Thunderstorms and heavy rain Thursday morning may temporarily provide relief from the area drought, but the rain came too fast.
Flash flooding was a major concern with a line of thunderstorms moving across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio.
Several accidents happened along I-69 between exits 102 and 109 Thursday morning. Flooding was also reported across several spots, including on I-469 and some local roads.
Motorists should be cautious while driving, as flash flooding can happen quickly. Never drive through flood waters, no matter how shallow the water may appear.
The storms have also knocked out power to more than 700 I&M customers in Allen County.
The Fort Wayne Police and Fire Departments have responded to several areas with downed wires and transformer fires.
The National Weather Service has put the area under a slight risk for severe weather Thursday afternoon.
