Hughes setting up run for mayor?

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Allen County Councilwoman, Paula Hughes, announced Wednesday she will not seek a third term.
The Republican has represented the 2nd District since 2003.
In an announcement outside the City County building, Hughes told NewsChannel 15 she's proud of her time on the council.
Among the things she's most proud of, paying off the county's debt to the state and establishing a rainy day fund.
NewsChannel 15 asked if today's announcement paves the way for a run for the mayor's office.
"It is public knowledge that I organized a campaign committee for the office of the mayor of the city of Fort Wayne, but I will make a formal announcement about that at a future date," said Hughes, (R) 2nd District.
Hughes' council term ends next year.
