FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Fort Wayne Community School Board voted 6-1 to approve a major shake up in administrative positions, Monday.

As part of the Fort Wayne Community School District's quest for federal money, dozens of administrators will get new titles or be reassigned.  FWCS could receive at least six million dollars as part of a program called "Race to the Top."

Eleven schools have been labeled "turn-around" schools, which means every employee at those schools will have to re-apply for their jobs.

All Assistant Principals affected had learned their fate by early Monday night. It was made public after the board approved the change.

Of 32 administrators, 25 will be moved or have their job titles changed. Four of those will move from administrative positions to teaching positions. Some will actually move twice in the next year.  Six will stay in their current positions, and one person's future has yet to be determined. The effective dates vary for each administrator, but the first date is as soon as June 2010.

The affected high schools are North Side, South Side, and Wayne. Kekionga, Northwood, and Miami Middle Schools are slated for change. Elementary schools on the list include Adams, Abbett, Bloomingdale, Fairfield, and South Wayne.

Leaders say the process allowed them to re-work job descriptions and figure out who best fit what position.

"Each building has its own culture and each person who comes into a position has their own strengths," explained High School Area Administrator D. Faye Williams-Robbins. "So what we did is we tried to match the cultures of the communities of the students who were there. The strengths of the leaders. And looking at what the gaps were that we needed to work on. And then as we began to build those teams, we did that as well."
