FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - At around 6:30pm Tuesday night police found a missing baby from East St. Louis in Fort Wayne. The baby was taken into the care of the Department of Child Services.

The baby is five month old Cortez Rose. The U.S. Marshals found the baby inside the Fort Wayne home at 456 Taber Street. Reportedly there were 13 people inside.

Authorities said 17 year old Danielle Medina kidnapped Rose from his parents' home Saturday. Medina is charged with aggravated kidnapping. She has outstanding warrants for child endangerment in New York, which is where she is from.

One of the kids who lives inside the home told NewsChannel 15 her mother was taken into custody for an unrelated warrant. The kid said her mother and other relatives met Medina at a family reunion in East St. Louis this weekend.

According to the girl, Medina told them she was homeless, the baby was hers, and she was being abused by the baby's father. The girl from inside the home said they decided to bring Medina and the baby back to Fort Wayne with them.

The girl said the U.S. Marshals caught up with Medina through phone records. A local U.S. Marshal developed a source in the East St. Louis who led Marshals to the home in Fort Wayne.
