BMX track vandalized, bikes stolen

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Earlier this week, the BMX track at Franke Park was vandalized.

The track directors think the vandals pulled out the window air conditioning unit to get inside the building.

They then stole all the bikes and concessions that had just been stocked for the season.

The directors say it's more than just a setback for their second year.

"It's more disappointing because there are so many kids that come out to our track that don't have bikes or would like to try and use a race bike and can't afford it and we have nothing now. It's more disappointing for the kids to see that they're out of something now at this point," said Track Director Amy Thompson.

They still hope to be able to open the track this week.
