FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A project that's been decades in the making will finally be finished. The Maplecrest Road extension is set to open on October 30.
The project extends Maplecrest from Lake Avenue to Adams Center Road at Indiana 930 in New Haven and will make travel easier for thousands of motorists on the east side of Fort Wayne.
The road will officially be opened with a ribbon cutting by the Allen County Commissioners at 11 am on a portion of Maplecrest near the Do It Best headquarters in New Haven.
The project, which began in early 2010, required the construction of four new bridges, new storm sewers an other infrastructure upgrades. The project is estimated to have cost just under $50 million.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
