FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A Fort Wayne woman is now in serious condition after crashing her car into a tree on E. State Boulevard Sunday night. Police said she had a blood alcohol content (BAC) nearly four times the legal limit.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. at 5900 E. State Blvd. Fort Wayne police said Tammy J. Bottorf, 40,  was the only person in the Ford Taurus and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Her conditioned was upgraded to serious on Monday.

Based on a witness account, police believe that she was going east on E. State and was straddling both eastbound lanes going very quickly. The car then went off the road and crashed head-on into a tree.
