KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - A woman was seriously hurt in a crash Saturday night when she swerved to miss a deer.

In a press release, the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department said deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on Packerton Road just south of State Road 14 on Saturday around 7:46 p.m.

Officers and emergency responders found a black 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck that had hit a utility pole on the west side of the road.

Police said Kelly S. Bozell, 43, of Akron, was driving south on Packerton Road when a deer suddenly ran onto the road. She swerved to miss the deer, but went off the shoulder and hit the pole.

Bozell was airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was last listed in serious, but stable condition.

Kosciusko County F.A.C.T. members were on scene and stated that the crash was still under investigation pending legal blood draw results as required by Indiana state law, the media release said.
