WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) - A Warsaw man died after crashing his car into a utility pole on a rural Kosciusko County road.

According to a sheriff's department release, Shaun Owens, 32, was driving north on County Road 350 West around 9:15 Thursday night when he lost control of his vehicle, according to a witness.

Owens over-corrected after coming over a small hill and slid off the road into a utility pole.

Arriving officers found Owens' destroyed Ford Contour in a cornfield. He was wearing his seatbelt, but the violence of the crash partially ejected him from the vehicle.

Owens was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trama to the head.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
