FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - One person has died as a result of an early morning crash at the intersection of Coliseum Blvd. and Crescent Ave.
Around 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, emergency crews were called out to Coliseum at Crescent.
Fort Wayne Police Department Public Information Officer Raquel Foster said a red Impala, a white Pontiac and a semi were all driving east on Coliseum Blvd. According to Foster, the Impala clipped the mirror of the Pontiac, kept going and hit the back of the semi, which was stopped at the intersection.
Foster said the Impala was going so fast that the semi moved forward about two feet due to the impact.
The driver of the red car, identified as Lucas J. Goodmann by the Allen County Coroner, was declared dead at the scene; no one else was in the car. No other injuries were reported.
Goodmann, 23, of Fort Wayne, was not wearing a seatbelt according to the Allen County Coroner.
The eastbound lanes were closed between Crescent and Anthony while crews investigated and cleaned up the scene. The road reopened around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.
The incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, and the Allen County Coroner's Office.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
