DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – The DeKalb County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who died in a two vehicle accident just south of Spencerville Friday morning.

Police said around 8:30 a.m., a two door silver passenger car driven by Melissa Mills, 33, of Fort Wayne, and a Jeep driven by Ashley Crow, 28, of Saint Joe, collided head-on in a curve on State Road 1 just north of County Road 72.

According to police, the front passenger of the silver car, Ryan Turner, 45, of Butler, died at the scene. The rear seat passenger in Mills' car, Aiyana Mills, 13, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Both drivers, Mills and Crow, were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

Ron Galaviz with the Indiana State Police says road conditions could be a contributing factor in the crash but it isn’t the primary cause. The road was closed for about four hours following the crash.

Police said the crash is still under investigation.
