STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Police in Steuben County investigated two separate crashes early Saturday morning that sent two men to hospitals.
Officers suspect Mackie Manns Jr, 33, may have been drinking and driving when he ran his pickup truck off SR 327 and hit a tree. The crash happened around 4:50 a.m.
Manns was pinned in his vehicle and first responders found him unresponsive. The driver was removed from the truck and transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Around two hours later, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department responded to a crash on Bellefontaine Road.
Officers reported that road conditions were very slippery when Justin Funkage’s Jeep Cherokee dropped off the right side of the road. The driver overcorrected and went across the opposite side of the road into a ditch.
Medics transported Funkage to an area hospital with neck and back pain.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
