NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - The Noble County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal crash east of Wawaka Sunday evening.

Just before 8 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a crash on U.S. 6 east of County Road 300.

According to a department report, a vehicle driven by William A. Crandall, 44, Butler, was traveling east on U.S. 6 near 300 West when his vehicle left the right side of the road. He then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle, according to the report.

Crandall's vehicle then slid across the road and into the path of an oncoming westbound vehicle driven by George Harmon, 65, Ligonier, according to the report.

Crandall and Harmon were pronounced dead at the scene.

A passenger in Harmon's vehicle, Laura Harmon, 60, Ligonier was airlifted to Parkview Hospital for injuries to her legs. A condition was not provided in the report.

Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
