NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WANE) --  Police believe a medical condition is what caused a driver to crash into two homes with his SUV in New Haven Friday morning.

According to the New Haven Police Department, just before 9 a.m. Randy Jefferson was headed east on Lincoln Highway West in a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo when he left the roadway and crashed into a home and a mobile home in the 200 block.

Police said he hit a mailbox, bushes, landscaping and a fence as well.

Several people were in the homes at the time of the crash, but they were not injured. The driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition for treatment.

The mobile home received most of the damage and the Red Cross is now assisting the families that lived in the mobile home and the house.
