FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Fort Wayne police are investigating a crash on a residential street in Fort Wayne early Thursday morning.
Around 1 a.m., police responded to a one vehicle accident in the 2600 block of Hazelwood Avenue near Rolston Street.
Police found a driver and passenger outside the vehicle, uninjured.
Police said an eyewitness told them the vehicle was traveling east on Hazelwood at a high rate of speed when the driver hit the dip in the intersection with Rolston Street.
The dip caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, nearly hitting a parked SUV. According to police, the driver then overcorrected almost hitting another parked car as his vehicle began sliding. Police said the car then hit a tree and flipped onto the driver's side.
Both the driver and passenger were eventually able to get out of the car with the help of nearby residents.
Police said they believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
The driver was taken to the Allen County Jail. Police did not say what charges the man might face.
The driver's name has not been released.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
