VAN WERT, Ohio (WANE) - A student had to be taken to the hospital after an accident involving a school bus near Van Wert, Ohio Monday afternoon.
The crash happened at the intersection of Van Wert Willshire Road and Richey Road, which is southwest of Van Wert, at 4:05 p.m., according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Police said the driver of a school bus failed to yield to a westbound Ford Focus while crossing the intersection. As a result, the Focus struck the side of the school bus.
The bus was taking elementary, junior high and high school students home at the time.
One student received minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital, according to police. The driver of the Focus and his passenger were treated for minor injuries on the scene.
The intersection was closed for approximately an hour while crews cleaned up the accident scene.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
