ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - State Road 37 north of Harlan is reopened after an overturned tractor-trailer closed the road for about three hours Wednesday morning.

According to Allen County police, a semi carrying steel plates overturned near Springfield Center Road at the "S" curve about 3 miles north of Harlan.

Police said the driver told them the load shifted coming around the curve about 1:15 Wednesday morning.

Steel plates were all over the road and nearby yards for about 100 yards. The truck flipped onto the right side and came to a stop in the southbound travel lanes.

Northeast firefighters used sand to contain several gallons of fuel that were leaking from one of the ruptured tanks on the tractor. Most of the fuel was contained on the roadway, but it's not clear if any spilled into nearby yards.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

The road was closed for about three hours. Police also closed northbound 37 shortly after reopening the road due to a second semi-trailer that ran out of gas.

As of 5 a.m., the road is completely open to traffic.
