COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WANE) - Police in Whitley County are investigating a fatal semi crash near Columbia City early Wednesday morning.
According to police, around 9 a.m. the driver of a box truck rear-ended a semi on U.S. 30 that was stopped at a traffic light near County Road 300 East.
The driver of the box truck died as a result of the impact. The driver of the semi was not injured.
Police closed portions of westbound U.S. 30 for several hours to investigate and clean debris from the road.
The name of the deceased driver has not been released.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has made it easy to check road conditions around the state.
